Our view: Too long in coming, but closure to CTS saga at hand Editorial Asheville Citizen-Times (NC) February 16, 2016 Neighbors of CTS finally are going to get the cleanup they deserve, a quarter-century after contamination first was detected. CTS Corp. and a predecessor performed electroplating at facility on Mills Gap Road from 1952 to 1986. Contamination was first noticed in 1990 but pretty much discounted then. It wasn’t until 1999 that neighbors became aware there was a problem when an oily mess was discovered oozing into a spring basin next to the plant.
