DEC eyes possible cleanup of old Corning Hospital site

The state Department of Environmental Conservation will conduct an investigation of the former Guthrie Corning Hospital site at 176 Denison Parkway East in Corning to determine whether any soil or water contamination needs to be addressed.

The DEC is seeking public comment on a proposed investigation and possible cleanup under the state's brownfield program.

Guthrie Corning Hospital closed the Denison Parkway facility, which was more than 100 years old, in the summer of 2014 after opening a new hospital campus off Interstate 86 in East Corning.
