State points finger at Northrop Grumman for groundwater contamination in Newton By Allison Pohle Boston Globe (MA) October 5, 2016 After months investigating causes of groundwater contamination in Newton’s Nonantum neighborhood, state officials have identified likely sources of elevated Trichloroethylene levels affecting a section of the city near Pellegrini Park, Jackson Road, and Watertown Street. On Sept. 13, the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection sent notices of responsibility to Virginia-based global defense contractor Northrop Grumman Corporation and to One Nevada Realty LLC to inform them of their potential liability in the contamination of groundwater in the area.
