High-Resolution Site Characterization at Chlorinated Solvents Sites

Mr. Murray Einarson, Haley and Aldrich
Dr. Andrew Jackson, Texas Tech University

Thursday, May 18, 2017
12:00 PM ET (9:00 AM PT)

Join SERDP and ESTCP on Thursday, May 18 for a webinar detailing results from SERDP/ESTCP research to advance high-resolution site characterization technologies for chlorinated solvents sites. First, Mr. Murray Einarson of Haley and Aldrich will present validation results for a new technology to quickly delineate residual chlorinated solvent DNAPL in three dimensions. The technology injects a small stream of red dye ahead of a Laser Induced Fluorescence (LIF) detector as it is advanced using direct push methods. Next, Dr. Andrew Jackson of Texas Tech University will present results from an ESTCP project to develop a direct-push high-resolution passive profiler (HRPP) to quantify and delineate the distribution of chlorinated solvents, groundwater velocity, geochemistry, and microbial community activity within complex layered aquifers. Results show that HRPP produced comparable data to existing high-resolution tools in an integrated format at lower cost.
