Former Clothing Care Center site may be contaminated with PCE, TCE By Karen Bota Ionia Sentinel-Standard (MI) September 29, 2017 IONIA - The Michigan Department of Environmental Quality is reviewing the former Clothing Care Center site in downtown Ionia to determine how dry-cleaning operations there may have impacted surrounding soil, groundwater and soil gas. DEQ staff held a meeting with downtown Ionia property owners last week to explain the procedures they are following and to review the timeline. They also answered questions from attendees. Clothing Care Center operating a dry-cleaning business at 309 and 327 W. Washington St. and Cornell Alley from the mid-1960s to 2006. In 2013-2014 the property was purchased by the city of Ionia.
