Cleanup action completed at Walden brownfield site MidHudson News December 3, 2017 WALDEN – Action has been completed to address the contamination related to the former Packaged Lighting Systems site at 29 Grand Street in Walden. The cleanup activities were performed by the estate of Hy Hilzen and Grant Street Factory, Inc with oversight from the state Department of Environmental Conservation. The remedial investigation was initiated in 2012 to evaluate the extent of contamination in soil, groundwater and soil vapor intrusion. Volatile organic chemicals were detected in the site’s groundwater and soil vapor. ..
