Boiler Co. property on market again City hopes developer steps in By Mike Helenthal Kewanee Star Courier (IL) February 13, 2018 Kewanee city officials have been in contact with the owner of the 35-acre Kewanee Boiler Company property and are assisting him in finding a business that might be a good fit for the abandoned plant. The plant was sold for $5,151.51 to Michael Timbrook of Green Valley last year as part of Henry County’s annual delinquent tax sale, but officials only recently were able to contact Timbrook. According to City Manager Gary Bradley, the new owner has no plans to use the property for manufacturing purposes, and instead is marketing the building for sale. The asking price is nearly $400,000, as indicated on an online auction website. … Bradley said the site wouldn’t necessarily qualify for Brownfield toxic cleanup status unless major construction or earth-moving work was done onsite. And it’s uncertain how much cleanup, if any, would be necessary upon its renewed use. … For the entire article, see http://www.starcourier.com/news/20180213/boiler-co-property-on-market-again -- Lenny Siegel Executive Director Center for Public Environmental Oversight a project of the Pacific Studies Center P.O.
