State to test groundwater contamination in Fairport

News10NBC has learned it could be months before the state can clean up cancer causing chemicals in a Fairport neighborhood.  

The contamination started on the property of Qualitrol on Fairport Road. Company officials say they've worked with the state to clean it up, but the contamination has spread.

Unacceptable levels of TCE have been found in a neighborhood southwest of the company near Jefferson Avenue.

News10NBC found out testing of the groundwater in the area will happen this spring, but some fear it may be too late.
