Foster Wheeler site plan released BY KELLY MONITZ Wilkes-Barre Citizens Voice (PA) MAY 20, 2018 The federal Environmental Protection Agency released a proposed remedial action plan for the Foster Wheeler Energy Corp. Superfund site in the Crestwood Industrial Park in Mountain Top and is seeking public comments. A meeting to present the plan to the public will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at St. Jude’s School cafeteria, 422 S. Mountain Blvd., Mountain Top. The plan can also be reviewed at https://go.usa.gov/xQByj, the Marian Sutherland Kirby Library in Mountain Top or the EPA Information Repository in Philadelphia. The plan looks at actions to address contaminated sediment, soil and groundwater at the Foster Wheeler site, where trichloroethylene, or TCE, was used as an industrial greaser when the plant was in operation from 1953 to 1984. Nearby residences along Church Road affected by TCE-contaminated groundwater were hooked onto a public water supply or given filter systems. … For the entire article, see http://citizensvoice.com/news/foster-wheeler-site-plan-released-1.2339348 -- Lenny Siegel Executive Director Center for Public Environmental Oversight a project of the Pacific Studies Center P.O.
