New water wells prohibited in central city

New water wells will not be allowed in an area near two places where low levels of chemicals may be  in the water.

Connersville City Council approved an environmental restrictive ordinance, called an ERO, to prevent residents from drilling water wells in the central part of the city because chlorinated volatile organic compounds are in the water.

Attorney Erik Mroz presented the plan to the council on behalf of Booher’s Inc., the former owner of the former Hoffman Dry Cleaners property at 911 Western Ave., and Eastern Corp., which does business Hassler Textile Services on Eastern Avenue.
