Chemical found near old Tell City plant By MIKE PICKETT Tri-State Homepage August 17, 2018 People living near a closed Tell City plant are raising concerns over possible exposure to a chemical found underground. The chemical was detected near the old General Electric plant on 13th street that's been closed for more than a decade. It was where vacuum tubes and small motors for appliances were made until its closure in 2005. "It was important. I think it created a firm middle class here in town," says Lynne Rice, who lives across the street from the old plant.
