[I thought I posted this earlier, but I can’t find it. - LS] US EPA finds remnants of Hoover chemicals at nearby church By Robert Wang Canton Repository (OH) Posted Oct 29, 2018 at 11:58 AM NORTH CANTON Testing at several locations at or around the former Hoover Co. plant found high levels of cancer-causing chemicals including in 2016 at the nearby Community Christian Church, U.S. Environmental Protection officials told residents Wednesday evening. However, Joseph Kelly, a project manager for the U.S. EPA based in Chicago, told an audience of more than 65 at the Civic Center that investigators did not feel there was a significant risk to the health of people visiting the church. He said they would not have been exposed for a long enough period of time to be of concern. Also testing positive for carcinogens above a safe level are areas such as the West Factory area, which are unoccupied. The levels are not considered a threat to human health. However, Maple Street Commerce will have to clean up those areas before they can be developed into apartments and retail space suitable for human occupancy. … For the entire article, see https://www.indeonline.com/news/20181029/us-epa-finds-remnants-of-hoover-chemicals-at-nearby-church -- Lenny Siegel Executive Director Center for Public Environmental Oversight a project of the Pacific Studies Center P.O.
