Firm to assess former china plant contaminants By Debbie Wachter New Castle News (PA) February 21, 2019 A movement is under way to study what contaminants exist at the Brownfield site of the former Shenango China plant off Sampson and Grant streets. The Lawrence County commissioners have approved a professional services contract with RAR Engineering Group LLC to complete environmental assessments of Brownfield sites within the city of New Castle as part of a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency grant. The engineering firm will be paid a maximum of $180,000 for its work, under the agreement. … She said there are two grassy knolls behind the building where lead contamination from the china industry was buried.
