Vote on zoning change for polluted DuPont site postponed following outcry from residents by Scott Fallon North Jersey Record (NJ) April 12, 2019 A vote on a controversial zoning change for the polluted former DuPont property in Pompton Lakes was tabled this week after current and former residents voiced concerns that the change could weaken future cleanup efforts. The borough council decided Wednesday night that it would not act immediately on an ordinance that would eliminate any residential zoning on nearly 300 acres owned by Chemours, a DuPont spinoff company managing the cleanup at the site. Cleanup standards are much stricter for residential development than commercial.
