Ramsey gets funds for brownfield cleanup

The city of Ramsey has received funding to clean up a site on Highway 10 that was used as an unapproved construction landfill.

The Metropolitan Council July 24 awarded Ramsey a $902,500 grant through its livable communities program’s tax base revitalization account for environmental investigation, development of an action plan and soil remediation at the vacant 4.8-acre site.

The cleanup of the site, 6080 Highway 10 NW, has been prompted by property owner Village Bank, which acquired the parcel through foreclosure some 10 years ago and is proposing a 14-unit residential subdivision.
