How 17 years of pollution in White Bear Township was finally stopped By BOB SHAW Twin Cities Pioneer Press (MN) October 13, 2019 For 17 years, the Twin Cities company Water Gremlin released TCE, a chemical known to cause cancer, from its plant in White Bear Township. State inspectors missed it while neighbors of the company may have unknowingly breathed it. It ended only when an employee of the company - and detective work by the regulators - helped reveal it had been one of the worst polluters in state history. Water Gremlin was hit with $7 million in fines, the largest civil penalty ever issued by the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency.
