Vapor intrusion in Elmira Heights still an issue, public can get update Wednesday

The specter of contamination from a longtime industrial site just outside Elmira Heights has concerned environmental agencies for decades, and this week residents can get an update on an ongoing investigation.

The EPA placed the former Facet Enterprises site in Elmira Heights on its National Priorities List in 1983 and initiated a cleanup plan at that time.

The Corning Road site, now owned by Motor Components, has been a location for makers of automotive parts since 1895 and remains an active industrial site.
