Chicopee requesting proposals to redevelop 2 former brownfield properties

CHICOPEE – The city is again attempting to sell two cleaned up brownfields, including a portion of the former Facemate property, in the hopes of redeveloping the land.

The city is asking for proposals from developers who want to buy an about 4-acre property on West Main Street and an about quarter-acre parcel in Chicopee Center. The Chicopee Center parcel is zoned for business and the West Main Street property and be developed for a variety of uses including residential and industrial.

The request for proposals comes one day after Mayor John L. Vieau took office. During his election campaign, the former City Council president and real estate assessor said he would focus on promoting development in the city.
