DEC, town setting up Tonawanda Coke public working group By Stephen T. Watson Buffalo News (NY) August 27, 2020 The state Department of Environmental Conservation and the Town of Tonawanda have formed a new community-based organization to support the cleanup and revival of the former Tonawanda Coke Corp. brownfield site. The Tonawanda Community Working Group will offer local residents and stakeholders the chance to take part in and stay informed about the process of bringing back to life the River Road site that closed under pressure in 2018, officials said.
