Guard leaders on offensive By KEVIN DENNEHY STAFF WRITER Cape Cod Times July 26, 2005 A coalition of National Guard generals yesterday urged that the realignment of the nation's Air Guard units be stripped from the ongoing Base Realignment and Closure process. In a letter to the independent BRAC commission, Maj. Gen. Roger Lempke, president of the Adjutant General Association of the United States, said the Air Force plan to realign Air Guard units is ''beyond the scope'' of the BRAC charter. He recommended any changes to the structure of the Air Guard be completed in a separate process that involves state adjutant generals and elected leaders. ...
