Topsham wants its own authority (ME) Town's is seen as having less complicated redevelopment issues than Brunswick Naval Air Station. Until Thursday, state and local officials worked under the assumption that one local redevelopment authority would represent both Brunswick and Topsham as the federal government moves ahead with plans to close Brunswick Naval Air Station. A local redevelopment authority would serve as the single point of contact between local interests and the military, and once in place, the authority would begin the process of redevelopment planning. However, at a Topsham Board of Selectmen meeting on Thursday, Town Manager Gary Brown summarized a meeting earlier that day with a top Navy base closure representative that included discussions about Topsham having its own local redevelopment authority. ...
