Developer's $2.7M offer may not be very useful By CHRIS G. DENINA Vallejo Times Herald October 20, 2005 A Mare Island developer's unsolicited offer this week of $2.7 million for the city to drop a dredge pond project may be too little and too late. Too little because some groups that stand to receive $700,000 of the payout if the city takes the deal say the money may not buy much in the long term. And too late because Vallejo officials say they already have a deal with Weston Solution Inc., pending some approvals, to reopen seven ponds to store materials scooped from the bottom of local waterways. Still, Lennar Mare Island LLC's offer apparently is helping ease at least one new homeowner's concerns over the ponds. ...
