[CPEO-IRF] BRAC conference postponed

BRAC Conference Postponed 

* The previously announced conference entitled ?Secretary of Defense
/Military Service/Community Conference? that was to be held at the Hyatt
Regency-Baltimore Inner Harbor Hotel, from November 28 to December 1,
2005, for invited community and state public officials, is postponed
until the first quarter of calendar year 2006 due to the lack, at this
time, of an FY06 appropriation for Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC)
and the possibility of a second Continuing Resolution. Under these
circumstances, and in order to insure that the planned conference
effectively serves the needs of the affected communities, it is in the
best interests of all parties to postpone the event until early next
year. The new conference date and location will be announced shortly.

* As originally planned, conference attendees will gain helpful
perspectives for responding to the changes brought about by Base
Realignment and Closure 2005 (BRAC 05) actions, have the opportunity to
network with like-affected states and communities, and be able to access
military and other Federal officials to begin the important partnering
process that is vital to the success of any adjustment effort. The
agenda will include the presentation of policies for carrying out BRAC
2005; ?roll-up-your-sleeves? workshops on issues ranging from the
creation and recognition of a Local Redevelopment Authority to managing
growth in response to military expansion, and present resources to
assist adjustment responses to BRAC.

* Invitees will be receiving a formal written invitation, as soon as the
new conference venue is selected. As it becomes available, information
on the rescheduled conference will be placed on the conference website
at www.dodBRAC05conference.com.
