Harrison considers parks, recreation master plan

HARRISON TOWNSHIP -- Expanding a bike path system and obtaining land 
from Selfridge Air National Guard Base are among the goals outlined in 
the township's proposed parks and recreation master plan.

The plan, considered a roadmap for the development of the parks and 
recreation department, is the first to be developed since budget cuts 
forced the closure of the department in 2004. It will update the current 
plan, which is nearly 10 years old.

"It is a mass overhaul of the previous plan," said Harrison Township 
Board Trustee Sharon Eineman, who is the board representative to the 
volunteer parks and recreation committee. "When I first ran for office, 
I ran for bringing back parks and recreation. I wanted to bring it back 
for the community."
