Revamp urged for Navy property plan Saldaña seeks more city involvement By Jennifer Vigil SAN DIEGO UNION-TRIBUNE (CA) August 19, 2006 Assemblywoman Lori Saldaña called yesterday for the San Diego City Council to play a bigger role in the ongoing debate over a controversial development plan for Navy property near San Diego Bay. The council is set to review the proposal for the site, known as the Navy Broadway Complex, next month, a move that Saldaña, a San Diego Democrat, calls "a start," but she wants more. Following a hearing of the state Assembly's Base Closure and Redevelopment Subcommittee yesterday in Old Town, Saldaña said the city should take a bolder step and seek to revamp the 1992 development agreement that led to the plan. ...
