Bauer: Corzine’s full attention on fort reuseBY SUE MORGAN Atlanticville (Long Branch, NJ) January 26, 2006 EATONTOWN — Virginia S. Bauer, the state's recently reappointed secretary of commerce, says that she has the ear of Governor Jon S. Corzine when it comes to Fort Monmouth's future uses after its impending shutdown. Reporting to her colleagues on the multi-jurisdictional Fort Monmouth Reuse Committee (FMRC) during their monthly meeting here on Friday afternoon, Bauer, tried to assure the other members of the group that Corzine has the best interests of those communities that will be impacted most by the closure of the 88-year-old U.S. Army base at heart. Although Corzine was only sworn into his first gubernatorial term on Jan. 17, he was eager to talk about the goals of the FMRC, which is presently composed of local, county and state officials and private sector members, said Bauer, a co-chairperson of the committee. ...
