Army seeks volunteers ... for their advice Hampton residents are needed for a board that will help oversee the cleanup of Fort Monroe. BY FRED CARROLL Hampton Roads Daily Press (VA) February 16 2006 HAMPTON -- Fort Monroe must be cleaned up before it becomes something else, and Hampton residents will get a chance to advise the military on removing buried munitions. Mike Hodson, a Fort Monroe spokesman, said the Restoration Advisory Board, which will likely begin meeting in March, will review environmental cleanup plans, suggest revisions and help schedule work. The Army will accept applications through Feb. 28 from people who want to sit on the board. Public members must be Hampton residents or directly affected by the base's closing. ...
