Lawmakers rally for BNAS reuse billsBrunswick Times Record February 27, 2006 BRUNSWICK - State and local officials were working to drum up support today for two bills aimed at helping the Mid-coast region respond to the impending closure of Brunswick Naval Air Station. LD 1957, An Act To Establish the Mid-coast Regional Redevelopment Authority will come before the Legislature's Business, Research and Economic Development Committee for a public hearing on Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the State House. The bill would create a development authority modeled after the Loring Development Authority. Topsham and Brunswick both appointed local redevelopment authorities, which have been meeting since last year, to create a master plan and zoning map for base property within each community. ...
