City awaits report on Navy center

A decision on what to do with the old Naval Reserve Center in North Park isn't likely until the city of Billings and the U.S. Navy resolve environmental problems with the buildings.

The center is known to contain asbestos and lead, and the city is working with the Navy to determine the extent of the problem.

"We need to better understand what's in the building" and what obligations the Navy may have, said Deputy City Administrator Bruce McCandless.
