Fort Gillem marketers like newsBy ERIC STIRGUS The Atlanta Journal-Constitution (GA) June 6, 2006 A plan to build commercial and residential developments at Fort Gillem could become a little easier. After a Monday meeting at the Army base in north Clayton County, Federal Emergency Management Agency officials said they may not need 315 acres on the to-be-closed base as the agency had earlier requested. FEMA's request for 315 acres worried some Clayton County and Forest Park officials. The local officials feared that if the agency took that big a bite, they might have trouble marketing their share of the 1,400-acre base, which is scheduled to close by September 2011. ...
