Group pushing for referendum on Cecil Field jet baseby Tony Quesada Jacksonville Business Journal (FL) June 16, 2006 A group of local business people is proposing a referendum on the September ballot to let voters decide whether the city should give Cecil Commerce Center back to the Navy to be its East Coast master jet base. The group, whose members have not been disclosed, plan to introduce the measure to city council on June 20. It will hold a news conference at 10:45 a.m. that day. The group is citing a survey conducted June 6-11 by American Public Dialogue that found 65.6 percent of city voters favor returning Cecil, formerly Naval Air Station Cecil Field, to the Navy. The survey also found that 75.5 percent of respondents believe voters should decide Cecil's fate. ...
