CECIL FIELD: Clay County property is crucial

As one of the attorneys representing the city in the recent Cecil Field referendum litigation and as head of the Office of General Counsel's Land Use and Environmental Law Department, I am compelled to correct misinformation being disseminated by Vote Jacksonville, proponents of the referendum.

Specifically, Vote Jacksonville claims that the Clay County portion of Cecil Field was not really part of Cecil Field because it was conveyed to Clay County by the Department of the Interior.

First, the deed conveying the property from the Department of the Interior to Clay County under the federal Lands to Parks Program specifically describes it as "the Clay County portion of the naval air station, Cecil Field."
