Comments sought on Camp Bonneville cleanup , The Oregonian January 24, 2007VANCOUVER -- The Washington state Department of Ecology has begun accepting public comments on plans to clean up Camp Bonneville, the former Army training site east of Vancouver that is contaminated with explosive compounds, unspent ordnance and pesticides. The documents describe the extent of the contamination and identify cleanup options. Comments will be accepted through Feb. 22. Camp Bonneville, used as a firing range from 1910 until its closure in 1995, was turned over last year from the Army to a limited liability corporation working on behalf of Clark County. Late last year that corporation -- the Bonneville Conservation Restoration and Renewal Team -- began brush clearing at the site. ...
