BNAS housing likely to go to homeless Report speaks of need for 50 to 75 units on base Seth Koenig Brunswick Times Record (ME) January 18, 2007BRUNSWICK - A report by Planning Decisions Inc. told the Brunswick Local Redevelopment Authority Wednesday that the Mid-coast region's need for longer-term, assisted living housing could command 50 to 75 units of Brunswick Naval Air Station housing once the Navy leaves. The authority — which is charged with developing a reuse plan for the military base after it closes in 2011 — set aside time at its regular meeting Wednesday afternoon at the old Brunswick High School to hear from Frank O'Hara, vice president of South Portland-based public policy and research firm Planning Decisions Inc. In planning for the redevelopment of the 3,200 acres on the air base, the Brunswick LRA must give high priority to fulfilling the needs of the region's homeless population, as mandated by federal Base Realignment and Closure regulations. ...
