Stratford likely out of Army site Mayor not optimistic after meeting with Pentagon officials RICHARD WEIZEL Connecticut Post January 24, 2007STRATFORD - The town may be retreating in its battle with the Army over regaining control over development of the 79-acre former engine plant on Main Street. Mayor James R. Miron, who met Tuesday with Pentagon officials in Washington, said after an "hours-long meeting" with Army brass he doesn't believe they will consider reversing the recent decision to strip the town of control of the property. For more than a decade, town officials have considered the former factory as the potential site of major economic redevelopment. Miron said Army officials have agreed to come to Stratford by the middle of next week, tentatively at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in Town Hall, for a meeting with the Town Council. ...
