Selfridge considers leasing out unused land By Cortney Casey C & G Newspapers (MI) April 4, 2007HARRISON TOWNSHIP - Some changes may be in store for Selfridge Air National Guard Base if officials proceed with a plan that would involve leasing out unused land within the base's borders. Through a program called enhanced-use leasing, the Department of Defense is permitted to put a "modest amount" of land that is unused but not officially considered excess to "productive use" by leasing it to non-federal entities, according to Selfridge officials. The property in question at Selfridge became available following the Base Realignment and Closure Commission's decision in 2005 to close the base's Army Garrison within the next few years. ...
