CU begins giant haul of patients, equipment By Bill Scanlon Rocky Mountain News (CO) June 11, 2007Thirty-eight newborns and moms went in one era and out the other Monday when they rode ambulances six miles east of the University of Colorado's venerable old hospital to the gleaming new one on the Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora. The neonatal move was precursor to an even bigger move Thursday through Saturday, when semis will haul more than 8,000 pieces of medical equipment and ambulances will haul 150 patients in a logistical and timing challenge that's the hospital version of D-Day. ...This week's move is the culmination of the vision to create a new campus to replace the cluttered and overcrowded campus on Colorado Boulevard. A key piece was purchasing — for $1 from the Department of Defense — the old Fitzsimons campus, where the Fitzsimons Army Hospital sat.
