Military Taps Private Sector for Base Cleanup

Dozens of military bases have been closed during the past 15 years, leaving behind serious pollution problems — from chemical contamination to unexploded ordnance. In most cases, the cleanup isn't happening as fast as the military or the local communities would like.

Now McClellan Air Force Base in Sacramento is trying out a new model for privatized cleanup.
