Long struggle worth it Push to keep commissary and PX ends with opening By Cathy Kightlinger Indianapolis Star June 22, 2007Indiana's only combined commissary and post exchange opened its doors Wednesday in Lawrence with free samples, tightly stocked shelves and staffers poised to help hundreds of customers wheeling metal carts down aisles. The event was like many grocery store grand openings -- but with a few significant differences. Among them, a band played outside, and commissary customers -- military personnel, retirees and their families, who can use the facility as part of their benefits -- enjoyed discounts officials say take about 40 percent off most retail prices. ...
