BLRA, Tedford work out solution

In lieu of BNAS property, homeless agency and redevelopment authority 
will create trust fund to help the homeless.
BRUNSWICK — Brunswick Local Redevelopment Authority members voted 
Wednesday to negotiate with Tedford Housing for the creation of a trust 
fund from the sale of Brunswick Naval Air Station property once it 
closes in 2011.

Tedford is one of three homeless agencies that applied to benefit from 
the closure.

Wednesday's vote came after the board's Homeless and Housing committee 
recommended accepting Tedford Housing's application, negotiating a 
contract and presenting the final agreement to the board. The board is 
bound by a base closure law to address homelessness in the base 
vicinity, defined by the Local Redevelopment Authority as Brunswick, 
Harpswell, Durham, Freeport and Sagadahoc County.
