San Pat votes to join Ingleside base group
Vote was affirmative for the second time in less than a month

For the second time in less than a month, San Patricio County commissioners have voted to join Ingleside's proposed redevelopment group for Naval Station Ingleside.

Commissioners voted July 30 to join Ingleside's group only if the other affected local government entities participated.

On Monday, the commissioners removed that contingency.

Ingleside had invited the city of Corpus Christi, the commissioners courts of Nueces and San Patricio counties and the Port of Corpus Christi to participate. All but the port agreed to join.

Efforts to establish a local redevelopment authority, a group that could receive federal government recognition as the overseer of base redevelopment, have been in flux since the base closure was announced in 2005.
