Base reuse process advances Beth Brogan Brunswick Times Record (ME) September 20, 2007BRUNSWICK - The Brunswick Local Redevelopment Authority has taken another significant step toward the finish line in developing a reuse plan for Brunswick Naval Air Station. The authority voted unanimously Wednesday afternoon to approve, with amendments, a draft Preferred Master Use Plan that includes a civilian airport, a college campus, 1,500 acres for open space and natural areas, and an office/business park second in the state only to the former Loring Air Force Base in size. The 720 acres for office space and a business park, said authority executive director Steve Levesque, would provide significant job opportunities to help recover the economic base of the region after the base closes in 2011. ...
