Fuel depot to be built in phases By Ryan Burr Panama City News Herald (FL) September 30, 2007LYNN HAVEN - The earliest Florida State University will be able to secure legislative funds for site development on the Air Force fuel depot site in Lynn Haven is 2009, an FSU-Panama City administrator said last week. "We have to be owners of the property first," said Associate Dean Ken Shaw.The Air Force in May dedicated 40 acres of the nearly 200-acre depot site for an FSU satellite campus, and Lynn Haven was part of that agreement. The deal, however, has not been finalized because the U.S. Senate has not approved the National Defense Authorization Act, which allows the transfer. The U.S. House has approved it. Melanie Morris, a spokeswoman for U.S. Rep. Allen Boyd, D-Monticello, who added the fuel depot agreement to the defense bill, said Wednesday the Senate "is debating amendments to the ... bill, with the hopes of considering the full bill soon. They intend to wrap up at the end of the week." ...
