Arden Hills works on plan to develop Twin Cities Army Ammunition Plant BY SHANNON PRATHER St. Paul Pioneer Press (MN) October 18, 2007It's the opportunity to transform a toxic plot of federal land - once used to manufacture bullets - into a sparkling new community dotted with homes, businesses, and parks and trails. It's tantalizing - full of promise and yet fraught with risk and red tape.One small north Ramsey County city is wrestling with that dream. So far, the going has been painfully slow and the first turn of the shovel isn't expected anytime soon. Just last year, Arden Hill officials were excited about finally getting the approval to buy 585 acres of the former Twin Cities Army Ammunition Plant site from the federal government. But the land deal has yet to materialize because a final cost and environmental cleanup details have yet to be worked out. ...
