Seeking a successor cemeteryDevelopment - Willamette National is about out of room, and proponents of replacements are already making their pitches ALLAN BRETTMAN The Oregonian October 15, 2007Willamette National Cemetery could be closed to burials in 10 years, maybe even sooner. With that in mind -- and with the federal government yet to launch an official search for another cemetery in the region -- advocates for sites in the Willamette Valley and east of Vancouver are gearing up. They are preparing sales pitches, touting a patriotic basis and noting the economic benefits for their areas. ...Among the choices, Camp Bonneville, about 10 miles east of Vancouver and seven miles north of Camas and the Columbia River, would be closest to that center.
