Big plans seen for Cecil Field

Warehousing, manufacturing and air cargo may grow Cecil Field into an
industrial center for Jacksonville and Clay County under plans unveiled
Thursday.

But planners see challenges working with the environmentally sensitive
property, ensuring there will be enough roads to handle traffic growth
and securing the funding to make the vision a reality.

"We're not planning a little shopping center here, nor are we planning a
subdivision. We are trying to come up with a plan for a huge portion of
Duval County," said Bob Simpson, the Jacksonville Aviation Authority's
senior director for Cecil Field.
