DIXON NAMED CHAIR OF BASE CLOSURE COMMISSION On October 4, 1994, the White House announced the appointment of former U.S. Senator Alan Dixon as chair of the Defense Base Closure and Realignment Commission. Presently a senior partner in the corporate and business department of the St. Louis-based law firm of Bryan Cave, Dixon served two terms as U.S. Senator from Illinois. While in the Senate, Dixon chaired the Subcommittee on Readiness of the Armed Services Committee. In 1995, the Base Closure and Realignment Commission is scheduled to recommend a new list of domestic U.S. military installations to be closed or cut back. Rumors in Washington suggest that "BRAC 95" will dwarf the previous three rounds of base closings. |
