The San Jose Mercury-News (January 23, 1995) carried a McClatchy News Service story about the closure of Castle Air Force Base, in Atwater (near Merced) California. It reported, "The 20 Acres of historic aircraft exhibits are scheduled to be transferred to the non- profit Castle Air Museum Foundation in April. The museum will continue to operate and has proposed a partnership with Merced Community College's vocational department to restore and maintain the aircraft." Lenny Siegel | |
