Hamilton AFB

I'm hoping that one or some of you can help me understand what
took place at Hamilton AFB in Marin County, CA and its current
status.

As I understand it the base was closed at least a decade ago
and was to be cleaned up and reused. Was it cleaned up and
reused? If not, why not? If not (and I'm assuming that the
plan WAS to reuse the facility much as many currently
closing bases will be reused) how did the process fail.

Any direct answers or helpful hints are greatly appreciated.
