Subject: | HELP NEEDED FOR NAPALM CLEANUP |
The Navy is holding a hearing on February 23, 1995, regarding remediation evaluation of disposal of some 34,000 napalm cannisters located in Fallbrook, CA. Environmental Health Coalition seeks expertise from folks that might have experience with napalm destruction. One interesting proposal in the document is called electrochemical oxidation. It looks like napalm could be destroyed leaving only water, carbon dioxide and residual polystyrene as the wastestreams. The Navy has rejected this alternative based on what appears to us to be rather bogus cost assessments. If anyone knows about this technology please write us at dtakvorian@igc.org. | |
